Rainier Valley Leadership Academy

High School

Who we are

We are a public, tuition-free, college preparatory charter school serving a diverse population in Southeast Seattle. Our mission is to help transform public education so ALL students graduate prepared for college, leadership, and life.

We are honored to be a Village Partner in HomeSight Community Development Corporation’s Southeast Economic Opportunity Collaborative (SEOC) in the heart of Othello Station. Our school will join dozens of other community based organizations to create a culturally relevant, integrated, and welcoming place that supports communities at risk of displacement and engages and celebrates the diversity of the Othello Station and larger Rainier Valley community.

About Green Dot Public Schools

Green Dot Public Schools is a network of public charter schools in the Puget Sound region, as well as Los Angeles and Memphis.

Our schools are free and open to all students, like other public schools.

Green Dot Washington enrolls students from diverse neighborhoods in Southeast Seattle, Tacoma, and Kent. Our students bring a multitude of gifts and potential, and our families have been actively involved in the building of the GDPS Washington network. Our School Advisory Team, consisting of 20+ families and community leaders, met monthly to give critical input and local context to the academic model and school name, colors, and community engagement strategy.

We are part of Green Dot Public Schools, a national network of high performing public charter schools who have achieved breakthrough results and have been profiled on national publications like U.S. News and World Report’s Best High Schools.

Nine Green Dot high schools are ranked among the top 10% of schools nationally by US News & World Report, with four being in the top 5%.

Students enter Green Dot schools testing in the bottom 10% but are matching the graduation rate for the state.

These same students are 4 times more likely to graduate college-ready than students in the neighboring schools.
