Student & Family Support Team
Mikylah Alkire was born in Siliguri, India and was adopted at the age of 6 months old. She grew up locally on Vashon Island just north of Tacoma in the Puget Sound, but chose to commute off island to the inner city school Chief Sealth, once she reached high school. Mikylah is a third generation University of Washington Husky Alumni where she received a B.A in Ethnic, Gender and Labor Studies. In June she graduated with her M.Ed with a ESA in School Counseling from City University in Tacoma. She brings 10 plus years of experience working with youth to Destiny as well as her previous experience as a DV advocate. In her free time Mikylah enjoys cooking, spending time with family and friends and watching the Seahawks play every Sunday! One thing she is very excited about this school year, is holding positive social and emotional groups for students to attend during lunchtime.
Ms. Sanchez spent her childhood between California and Mexico, and has been in the greater Tacoma area in 2008. Her professional background is in operations and customer service and she has a heart for serving people. She has spent the last few years volunteering in her daughter’s classroom, which stirred up in interest in education and brought her to Destiny! In her free time, she loves to spend time with her children and does freelance photography. She is excited to serve Destiny’s parents and students!
