MPcT Afterschool Program
MISSION: Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
PROGRAM: Metro Parks Tacoma will be providing afterschool programs at Destiny Charter Middle School during the 2016-2017 school year. Metro Parks has been providing quality programs in middle schools for more than fifteen years through the MPcT program (impact), formerly called SPARX. By design, our programs are to help children stay connected with school where they can safely recreate with their peers, polish current skills, and build self-confidence. Our caring staff encourages youth to try new things as well as to remind them to complete their homework. Metro Parks youth programs adhere to Youth Program Quality Initiative (YPQI) standards to ensure program quality.
Our free after-school clubs are designed to give middle school youth a safe and structured place to participate in recreational activities, support Destiny with study groups, try new activities, gain self-confidence, interact with positive Metro Park’s staff and stay connected to the school.
Our program will be offered Monday thru Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Mondays and Wednesdays: Specialty clubs, selected based on student interest and led by Metro Parks Tacoma instructors. This season we will offer art club, cooking and culture club, and flag football club.
- Tuesdays and Thursdays: Study groups, led by Destiny Charter Middle School teachers.
START DATE: MPcT will start on Monday, 10/24.
